Bookworm sparrow watercolour by Colin Thom
We are delighted to welcome Nitika Balaram to The Wee Sparrow Poetry Press team as director of Wee Sparrow Reviews.
Part of our ethos at The Wee Sparrow Poetry Press & Podcast is to give poets, both emerging and established, from different backgrounds and parts of the world, a platform to get their words out there. Our focus is making themed anthologies with all proceeds going to charity. While we don´t have the resources to publish individual collections, we would love to offer poets the chance to have their books reviewed and shared with our creative community.
Have you published a collection of your poetry (either self-published or with a press)? Then we´d love to hear from you. Send our book reviewer Nitika Balaram a digital copy of your book, your book´s blurb and front cover image, where it can be purchased, and your bio (up to 100 words) to weesparrowreviews@gmail.com. Nitika will select a book to be reviewed each month and her review will be posted on our social media, and via our Substack newsletter.
A few wee reminders…
We are currently looking for proposals for our fifth themed paperback anthology. Do you have an idea for a theme and a title? Is there a particular charity you would like to support? Do you have any previous editing and/or publishing experience? (If not, no worries. We welcome newbies.) Please email a brief proposal to theweesparrowpoetrypress@gmail.com by 30th November. This would be a supported unpaid volunteer role working alongside other members of The Wee Sparrow Poetry Press team. Get your thinking hats on!
Submissions for our 8th Ekphrastic Challenge are currently open. See full details here.
Make a note on your calendars too of our monthly submission window 1st to 15th to The Wee Sparrow Haiku Nook with Marc Brimble.
Co-editor across the pond, John Tessitore, is finalising his selection for our forthcoming zine Reason Gone Mad. More on that soon…
Have you listened to The Wee Sparrow Poetry Podcast yet? Another episode coming soon and lots more brilliant guests lined up…
Chirp chirp!
Stay well and stay creative.
Claire
